Re: Sarcastic and snide remarks will no longer be tolerated
To not spam the initial post, I translate my comment here. Mikej is in the right and you guys are in the wrong. If you do not want to provide a helpful answer, *DO NOT ANSWER A POST* Sarcasm and snide remarks ARE NOT APPROPRIATE. I've gotten sick of these attitudes and I'm going to have to take a h...

Re: Shiny transparent textures
Thanks, Chris. It all makes sense now. I'm thrilled you are even considering looking into it! I have been following the recent developments closely and don't imagine that this issue currently ranks high on the priority list. One day maybe... Looking forward to the next release and a big thank you to...

What about this one?

Re: New Shuttle...
I haven't downloaded the new version yet, so I'm not sure whether this will work, but give it a try... With my Tintin model I had a similar poblem; hitting the Home key only gets you close and -seemingly- no further after a while. If you keep holding the key down, after a fairly long time your view ...

Re: Shiny transparent textures
Yes, I figured that out by experimentation. The tests with /any/ combination of values don't seem to give me a more convincing result than the rather faint reflection on the spheres in the picture above. So, I'm probably right then to conclude that this is a current limitation of Celestia. Is there ...

Re: Shiny transparent textures
Dear Selden, Yes I did try changing specular and specular power settings. Below is a variation of a picture I posted before in the Tintin thread. I hadn't tried specular values higher than 1 (didn't think it would make sense). I've tried that now (see frontmost row). As you can see there is no diffe...

Shiny transparent textures
During the development of the 'Captain Haddock' add-on I noticed that it seems impossible to make transparent meshes (eg. helmets, canopies) look very shiny. It seems to me that the specularity is also reduced by the transparency setting. Is that something that could be relatively easily fixed in th...

Re: Spacecraft Trajectories and Dynamics
Sorry, half of what you said is gobbledygook to me! So, I can't make any sensible suggestions.
Just curious as to what the input parameters would be. Weight of the spacecraft, velocity, direction,...? And then output would be a XYZ trajectory is that right?

Re: Astronaut Tintin
Back from holidays! I see what you mean by polygon redundancy. Remember this was my very first try to make an add-on. The head was made with Anim8tor and it was difficult to make changes. I have been experimenting a bit with a demo version of Hexagon (Eovia) and have found better ways of dealing wit...

Re: Spacecraft Trajectories and Dynamics
It's great work! If you can make it easy to use, I'm sure a lot of people will be interested to create their own fly-bys, including me.

ElChristou,
This will help.

Did you manage to open the .3ds file for Captain Haddock's head?
This will help.

Re: Astronaut Tintin
That would be great! I would probably suggest that this would be an add-on to the add-on then. The reason is that -at a late stage- I needed to make a small change to the whole scene and the whole material list in the CMOD file was ordered differently! So, I had to manually go through all the materi...

Re: Astronaut Tintin
Perceptive as always... :) But no, the rungs came out somewhat later, when Tintin devises a plan with the Professor to rescue Haddock from the gravity of Adonis (page 8). I forgot to include a txt file in the upload acknowledging your help. Sorry, I'll do it later. Anyway, most people will read the ...

Re: Astronaut Tintin
I am pleased to announce that /finally/ I have completed my first add-on. This work would not have been possible without the help of ElChristou - who kindly offered to use the rocket model he had already developed - and Selden for many valuable tips. I have uploaded the 2.4 Mb file but don't know wh...
