Re: OT - Giza Pyramids and Orion's Belt?
Fom what I understand the sphinx really is a very ancient edifice but it was a later dynasty that put the sphinx part of the sphinx on it. I guess that's what happens when gods fall out of favor and other gods come to the forefront. Their prodigal sons / lieutenants take the stage and all traces of ...

Hmm.. that's too bad.
The overwhelming opinion is that some scientists seem to have spun the data a little bit to support their theory.
Bummer. I was hoping for more from the egyptians.
Ah well.. thanks for the comments. Maybe something else will turn up in the future.

Over the weekend of the 4th maybe I'll find an hour or two to play with some textures and see how it works out. /shrug Fridger, Yeah, I can see how some irresponsible comments could really snuff the fire for helping ...

Re: High Quality Texture Pack
I really do appreciate what Celestia is and what you all go through to create a terrific program. Don't get me wrong on that. My contributions here have been mostly a comment here and there. Never criticism of people or their work, but praise rather that you guys who are actually creating the progra...

Re: High Quality Texture Pack
And all that I or people like myself can say is that this is a program that has incredibly increased our knowledge of the solar system and the stars around us as well as providing an educational tool for our children to benefit from. The more visually exciting the program can become, the more likely...

Re: Ideas for next version of Celestia
I'd like to see mip mapping. I was fooling around the moon the other day with time compression at about 1000 (heh.. that phrase can only make sense here) and every time the earth swung by I would take a huge frame hit. I'm using a bumped 8k earth and the earth itself was only 50 pixels wide or so, b...
