Re: Possibility to pause .CEL scripts without interrupting.
Here is a workaround. If you have Celestia in windowed mode and you hit "Alt" it will pause the script. Press "Alt" key again to resume. This does not work in full screen mode.

Re: The Stars: A new way to see them...
But meanwhile, I suppose you have at most copied the Gemini entry from some other file generated by asterism.pl The Gemini entry is the same because the default Celestia asterism.dat file, as I stated in my first post, already uses the Rey asterism. There was no need for me to convert the Gemini en...

Re: The Stars: A new way to see them...
It is always good style/fair to cite the 'maker' of such things...
You mean H.A.Rey right? Not only did I cite his name, I cited the book I got the patterns from. It took me about 2 weeks to create that file!

Re: The Stars: A new way to see them...
Hi t00fri, I would be very interested in having a look at the alternative asterisms. I did a search for Rey's asterisms prior to constructing them and did note you had developed a perl script. My problem was I had, and still have, no idea how to use a perl script :) I would like to assure you that I...

The Stars: A new way to see them...
... is a book written by H.A.Rey. Within it are some of the clearest and best representations of star patterns I have seen. Many of you are probably familiar with them. (Gemini in Celestia is a Rey pattern). The following image shows the default patterns for a number of constellations. http://home.i...

Re: Engine sounds
It is not my perception or lack of imagination, but what the creators have in mind. And I agree with it, I admit. Since when were you a mind reader? Below is a quote from the user manual edited by Chris Laurel himself! Are you a Star Wars fan? The Celestia community has made available for download ...

Re: Engine sounds
Hi Selden
I have a sidewinder joystick with software that allows remapping of buttons. You just assign the appropriate keyboard key to the appropraite joystick button and it works fine.

Re: Engine sounds
Celestia is everything that we like it (or make it) to be. It's a space simulator, a visualisation tool, a education tool, a entertainment tool, a telescope simulator, ... Why shouldn't it also be a space ship simulator? Concur. I am about to try and learn a little about scripting to customise the ...

Re: Engine sounds
Celestia is a space simulator, not a space ship simulator... My nephew and I use it as a spaceship simulator. In fact it is very similar to Microsoft Space Simulator when used in slew mode. Addition of sound would make it more immersive. You might not have an imagination to use it as a spaceship si...

Engine sounds
In the Celesta manual it says "What good is a space simulation program if you cannot fly around in it? The designers of Celestia have created a seamless and easy way to fly through the Celestia universe. You are in command of your own spaceship. The video screen in front of you is its window. You ca...

Re: Tracking problem
Hi selden,
Am I correct in thinking you verified my findings using version 1.3.1?
Also do you know where I can obtain a copy of version 1.2.5? This version appears to have phase lock implemented. Phase lock is a great feature not present in 1.2.0.
Thanks

Tracking problem
I recently upgraded to version 1.3.0 after having used version1.2.0. One of my preferred views is the track view when doing flybys. In the 1.2 version I would set up to fly towards Jupiter whilst closely passing Io. As I begin to pass Io I select it then hit "T" I would watch the flyby then untrack ...
