Black hole go beyong bending
Bonjour Jeam tag As much as I enjoy astronomy, I am also burried in emails and internet groups. I like to come to Celestia to get ideas on how to fix bugs and make the program fly :) But I must admit that I have too many emails from other groups and I find myself doing less work...when I should be w...

Black Holes can apparently "bend" without breaking
Black hole go beyong bending the laws of physics my friend :)...They break them down totally !! Einstein came up with General Relativity to explain with stagering precision the regions of space (or more preciselly, Space/time) with immense gravity. Then, Quantum mecanics explains with extraordinary ...

Re: can't display black holes
Hi Bob Imagine this black hole close to it' s compagnion star. The gas from the star gets pulled towards the black hole and as it approaches, it spins around it. The closer it gets to the black hole, the faster it spins around it....The faster it spins, the hotter it gets, to the point that the gass...

Re: Problem with educational add-on
Hi Frank Please excuse my delay in answering you back. All my add-ons are in the Educational Extra folder with a good 1 Gb worth of them :)). There is only a single file in the regular Celestia Extra folder and it contains a SSC file called minormoons. The satellites that were problematic were remov...

Bug...Celestia locks up
Hello; I loaded many deep sky objects as add-ons. (About 40 of them) When I press the letter "U" to display them, after I zoom on one, the picture of say, M31 , appears, but on top of the fuzzy galaxy representation that was there before. The program also locks up when I try to navigate around M31 a...

Celestia causes the WHOLE system stop responding.
Hello I noticed a very similar thing with my Toshiba P20 laptop. I downloaded about 1.5 Gb of add-ons and figured my laptop could handle it 3 Ghz processor, 1 Gb RAM, GeForce 5200 3D graphics card with 64 Megs of memory on it..... I have so many deep sky objects loaded in my "Extra" folder that the ...

3D models versus 2D representations
Thank you all very much and Merci Beaucoup :) It is reasuring that I did not do a boo-boo while loading all the add-ons individually... I had assumed that since Abell 39 was in 3D, maybe a lot of other nebulas are too :))...I can understand the degree of difficulties involved in making these superb ...

Re: Problem with educational add-on
Hello; I followed Dan' s advice and the activities came out screaming :))) Gorgeous animations of the formation of our solar system and so much more !! I did notice that the Planetary nebula Abell 39 came out in full 3D whereas the Ring nebula, M42 and M16 had a 2D look. Is this normal ? Do some of ...

Re: Problem with educational add-on
Hi Dan Yes, I remember seeing "Word" documents in the Educational-Extra folder. So it would appear that I must first go thru the "Word document" to get the activities to turn on I will try that tonight Thank you very much Dan for your kind reply Sincerely Pierre Tournay Mobtreal pierret@aei.ca

Problem with educational add-on
Hello everybody I just discovered Celestia 2 weeks ago and downloaded over 2 GB of add-ons. So far the program works great and the enhanced textures of planets are unbeleivable. I also downloaded all the Educatonal activities, 1 to 7, and noticed that only Activity 3 and 4 have little icons that loo...
