Re: Converting A Model
I haven't been working with obj files in Cmodview but rather an external editor instead. Here is a quick convertion to cmod with the help of an anim8or plugin. I also took the liberty rotating it correctly (to the best of my knowledge). As a cmod file it shows up correctly in cmodview.

Re: Star textures
Oh those look quite epic! At first glance the colors look fine but maybe gonna experiement around a bit and adjust for spectral colors. The texture looks quite good but a minor complaint id have is the scale of features around the mid main sequence is probably too big. The sun's granules are way sma...

Re: Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE)
You cannot give the simple name of NEOWISE That's a bit bold no? Well. Feel free to change that. I have no other NEOWISE comets in my data files so there are no conflicts. First time anyone ever pointed that out to me, I have been using this naming scheme for years. Lucky you that no comet in Celes...

Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE)
I was taken by surprise comet NEOWISE evolved into a naked eye comet out of nowhere. Naturally, Celestia is a good way to check where to look for the comet, so I made this quick addon. Comets being comets have somewhat unstable orbits, so I couldn't figure out a way to make a precise ssc orbit defin...

Re: A new Addon Repository concept (Formerly called "Should we make a new Motherlode?")
That reminds me, I need to get a list of new parameters being added in 1.7, for the Celestia Wikibooks. That's long overdo. I had to get information about some 1.7 parameters from comments on the discord. Not even the developers seem to have a complete list ready. But a bigger problem, especially f...

Re: A new Addon Repository concept (Formerly called "Should we make a new Motherlode?")
There are also things like the LunarLambert parameter that will yield different results between 1.6 and 1.7 so a value that works for 1.6 might lead to overexposure in 1.7

Re: A new Addon Repository concept (Formerly called "Should we make a new Motherlode?")
I think the issue with the motherlode is the lack of proper user accounts to log into and being password protected, and a convenient way to upload files. Maybe I'm just a lazy prick but I dont think requiring 3rd party tools to upload files larger than 8 MB should be a thing. My main reason to not s...

Don't you see the issue here? That's a valid concern. Although I'm not sure if there is much of a better option at this point. Can anything from the current motherlode get carried over so we don't literally have to start from scratch?

Re: Amalthea
And can anyone answer my question about Amalthea's color? I did some research for Project Echoes on the color of various celestial objects, including Amalthea. Unfortunately, I couldn't find much useable data. Amalthea certainly reflects more red than blue light... but translating that into a color...

Re: A new Addon Repository concept (Formerly called "Should we make a new Motherlode?")
Apart from the occational seizures the motherlode seems to experience, even operational something has to be done. It's hardly even maintained, the website is not up to modern standards and it doesnt even make use of proper user account making it prone to abuse. There's also this 8 MB upload limit th...

Re: Forums Suggestion and Discussion: Anti-Necromancing rules and Joey P
Something clearly has to be done as all recent posts are by Joey P recently. Although I would suggest loosing rule 1 a bit, I've found myself abandoning certain threads for years until working on the subject again, see Whole Earth Views Although I might have been responsible for some necromancy myse...

Re: Project Echoes (Celestia Content Rework) - Release 0.1
Oh no, thanks for letting me know! The color of Jupiter's inner satellites was one of the last things I changed before releasing this update. Hm it's in "moons-regular.scc", I will make a patch to fix this issue  Good old Celestia ignoring everything if it encounters unfamilar syntax.

Well if you just scroll up you see why I did that. Just trying to end the debate.
Yeah as soon as I make an account there, wanted to get Project Echoes done before focusing on a new task.

Re: What additional data to show in infopanel (qt version)
The info panel can be shown by right-clicking on an object and selecting "Info". I see, thanks. I knew I had it display something before but just enabling it from View/Info Browser doesnt do anything (maybe that should be updated too). I like that idea, something like that would be neat. ...

Re: What additional data to show in infopanel (qt version)
I brought this up on the discord the other day. I havent' quite figured out how to have it display anything yet, or maybe its just the latest build. But I'd love it to display non-render relevant data, like the orbital classification of minor objects (minor moon family or dynamical class of minor pl...

I made a texture for every spectral type including M stars. I mostly had main sequence stars in mind but depending on what you're after maybe you might find my texture usefull:

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread
Nope Alright so I don't need to worry about these properties then. Great to see another update on Celestia, keep up the good work :smoke: I don't want to bother you but I found a lot of bugs and issues in the 1.7 builds that aren't reported on github as far as I can tell. I was gonna ask if I can h...

On that note, are there also any changes done to the orbit path samples and shadow/eclipse texture sizes?
