Star accuracy
I always prefered Celestia because it has always proved accurate in the past; however, I was reading about Barnard's star, and compared it to Celestia. Positions were so far off I can not recognize the same pattern of stars surround it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnard's_Star Also, This star is ...

I've just seen the popular app 'Living earth' on the ipad, which is basically just showing the earth in 3D while keeping the cloud data up-to-date, and also, does show time/weather for specific cities on the screen. But no-one has done this on PC yet. Just wondered if someone could hack desktop scre...

Celestia galaxy alignment
I'm just wondering, in Celestia, is our solar system correctly aligned with our galaxy? I'm not saying it wrong, just wondered if that is how it is. I'm asking because of this silly 2012 thing, and that it is supposed to be about our alignment within the galaxy. Using Celestia, I can see that earth ...

I'm very impressed. Could we make sure your work is in the next version of Celestia?

IIS view of the Moon
After seeing this.. http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/images/station/crew-10/html/iss010e18585.html I though I would try and recreate it. Says it was taken 24 Feb, but I cant get a image that is close. Earth always seems to be in the dark at this angle during this day. Anyone come up with a Celest...

More time zones - request
Just a quick one. Could we have more time zone information integrated, so that jumping to different date/time of a particular time zone is easier, and ability to display the time/date in different zones as well?

Time travel
ElPelado, My view is that the time-line would change, and maybe your parents no longer exist, but dont believe you suddenly disappear, but instead, managed to moved from your original universe to the new alternate one. The interesting question is, does only one time-line exist? or do they all exist?...

Re: Earth in IR, every day refreshed!
I've just noticed by looking at these cloud maps that all the cloud movement is probably cause by friction of some kind against space. From this 2D point of view, across the centre is where earth is moving from left to right which makes the clouds drag the way they do. I wonder if we took a clear sp...

Re: Earth in IR, every day refreshed!
Interesting, I understand IR pictures, but don’t know what to interpret from them. Does this mean there are sections of cold areas moving across our skies, or is it seeing surface temperatures?

Re: Saturn's Titan Texture anyone?
I keep wondering how true to colour the textures in Celestia really are, they are all taken from different sources, heavily processed differently and then converted. These missions should have special calibrated cameras that can take various spectrums in a single shot, RGB, IR and maybe radar, so th...

Just seems from the information I've been reading, physicists were still uncertain.

Speed of light..
This is probably basic physics, but... I'm a little confused about the speed of light. From what I'm understanding, c is pretty much constant, no matter what speed the source of the light is already moving at. Is this still seen to be correct today? If it is, then would it not be possible to calcula...

I'm going to stick my neck out on this one... I think the universe is full of life, just mostly not very intelligent life. It has been shown that bacteria can be brought back to life after long trips through the vacuum of space. And we have found life in the most remote and unbelievably the most uni...

I've thought about this very thing before. I don’t think its realist because there isn’t enough light coming from stars, but then putting them through a pin hole, the exposure time would have to be massive. I would expect the resulting images wont be good. I don’t think it doesn’t matter if there is...
