weird
hi people i just tried it again and the same thing happens. as soon as celestia fires up, i go straight to the sun. i then zoom out with the sun in the middle looking at the solar system from above (like a bird-eye view). if I speed the time up to 10e26, everything in the solar system disappears exc...

disappearing planets
hi guys the orbits DO remain stable after a gazillion years. one thing that i noticed is the rate of speeding up time somehow affects the position of the planets. let me clarify. if you make time runs about 10e10 times faster, everything remains perfect. however, when you make time run at 10e26 time...

"rogue" asteroids fixed
the rougue asteroids (Toutatis, Geographos, Kleopatra, 1996 KY26, Bacchus, Golevka, Castalia) had missing texture coordinates for the Celestia release 1.2.4pre3 (and possibly earlier versions also). without the texture coordinates, the asteroids have no textures (!), despite having the proper parame...

ringed planets bug
hi guys there seems to be a bug concerning the ringed planets (saturn, uranus). When you take a screenshot of anything and then go to either saturn or uranus, the rings (and the planets) textures are lost. The rings turn into bright white rings and the planets textures turn weird. The problem happen...

another problem
hey people chris, there seems to be another problem with the asteroids. I've corrected the missing texture coordinates for the "rogue" asteroids. However, when I ran Celestia, the colours for the asteroids were missing. I then went to Eros, the asteroid that had the colour working. It was a brownish...

fixing asteroids
hey chris
you're exactly right about the missing texture coodinates. I can fix that easily; I'll make a fix and I'll put it on my web site shortly. If you want, you can include them in the next Celestia release.
thanks in advance

asteroid texture bug
hi people for some reason, all of the asteroids in the solarsys.ssc file after EROS don't have any textures. I've checked the file and the entries are perfectly fine. The asteroids affected are: Toutatis, Geographos, Kleopatra, 1998 KY26, Bacchus, Golevka and Castalia. I'm running Celestia 1.2.4pre3...

more heck with hektor
That's exactly what the second mesh is on my web site. The two asteroids are actually slightly apart from eachother, but they look like they are touching because the mesh is being viewed from an angle. I guess you're right about the part that both asteroids are elongated. I'll fix that shortly. When...

which hektor mesh is better?
hi people I'm creating a mesh for hektor and since it's the first mesh I'm making for this project, I thought I should get some feedback from the pro's. Note that the final object will have textures, bumps, etc. This poll is only for the "shape" of hektor. Since nobody knows exactly what it looks li...

cool
thanks a lot man, now i've got an idea of what i'm actually making :-) i think i'll make the second one; for some reason, it seems to make more sense than the other two. the first one looks like an ordinary lame asteroid and the third kind of defies my logic for some reason. i think i'll make a poll...

help with hektor
hi everyone i'm modeling hektor in 3ds max. i know it looks like two spherical asteroids stuck together via a low velocity impact, but i don't have any photograph or artist's representation to look at to look at the details. anyone have any idea where i can find any drawings/images? thanks in advanc...
