Re: Installing Scripts

Awww, that one's easy -- just rotate everything else in the room to be upside down!

Re: Installing Scripts

That's what my German User'S Guide says too (Page 47, 4th section). BTW: Why are you using the german guide? Adirondack Hi Adirondack, The Celestia home page did not have an English guide, and I can muddle through everyday German....Soooo I gave it a try. I finally located an English version which ...

Re: Installing Scripts

Thank you Selden,

My bad. I did click on it, and thought it was a response from you to a particular post. I didn't realize that the entire thread was a numerical listing of FAQs.

Re: Earth from Moon

Hey Don,

Yes, I can see where this could become very addicting. I think I'm bit already. Now I'll have to read your scripting manual.

Re: Installing Scripts

Selden,

Thank you. That was most helpful. Where can those FAQs be found? It might spare a plethora of redundant questions.

Re: Installing Scripts

Hi Don, I figured that prelease meant beta, but I wanted Harald's script. Now I need to figure out how to use Celestia as a planetarium. The German manual describes it, but my German is not that good. I'm at 33.88 North Lat, so when I pick 56.12 N Lat and hit CTRL-G, I wind up on the surface with th...

Re: Installing Scripts

Harry,

I have just now come to realize that the program at the official site is not the latest and greatest. I just found 1.3.2pre8, and it works.

Thank you!

Re: Installing Scripts

It's your ALT-AZ script

What script?

show-azimuth-elevation_v1.2.celx

Are you sure you are using the same version of Celestia both times?

Harald

Yes, I'm new to this, so I believe I have the latest:

1.3.1

Thanks

Installing Scripts

How do you install scripts? I downloaded a celx script which will launch Celestia just fine from the download folder, but when I run it from within Celestia, I grt the following fatal error:

:16:attempt to call method 'newposition'(a nil value)

Thanks

Re: Earth from Moon

The Earthrise photo is undoubtedly a telephoto - think of the disappointingly small size of the Moon in the sky if you take a photo with a standard lens from the Earth. The Earth will appear a few times larger in the Moon's sky, but would still look quite tiny seen through a 50mm lens. Grant I gues...

Re: Earth from Moon

Hi Don! Thanks Paul,

I've tried those things, and i can get it to look good, but shouldn't the Earth look fairly large as seen from the Moon? At least larger than the Moon does as seen from the Earth?

Is there a way to get the ALt-Az of a body as viewed from the earth?

Earth from Moon

I am new to Celestia and was trying to recreate the famous photo of the Earth as seen from the Moon. I position myself on the Moon's surface and every view of the Earth is way smaller than in the photograph. Is Celestia out of scale? Was that photo taken with an incredible telephoto lens...probably ...
