Re: ESA uses Celestia
Thanks Ormstont, Nice pic! 8) , I appreceiate your explanation for the modification of the Celestia image, my only critisism (and so far mine alone..) is that to my eyes the Mars texture remains the only really valid "Wow" factor in the graphic!....(please pass this on to your relevant internal depa...

Re: ESA uses Celestia
Thanks to Ormstont for a clarification of the topic of this thread,
Sorry I haven't been around of late (Hi all!).
It is a shame that this forum & ESA did not link up sooner in a more diplomatic way (or NASA..).
Nice Pics....can we see some more?
Cheers

Re: Prob with 'Guest jo's' Enceladus texture..
Thanks to all for the informative feedback. :) as far as I can ascertain then(here I go with my outloud thnking thing again  ). jpegs are one of the universal formats for a digital image but DDS is a (compressed?) but still highly accurate and indeed desirable(for Celestians...see issues in th...

Re: Prob with 'Guest jo's' Enceladus texture..
Thanks for the feedback :D I was already there with the latest ATI drivers but I think you may have hit the mark with the fact that these are jpegs. so ( thinking aloud) in order to convert these into DDS files is it just a matter of renaming them to DDS or do I need some kind if filter? cheers Osmi...

Prob with 'Guest jo's' Enceladus texture..
Hi there, I downloaded & installed this texture successfully (as an alternate) & found the folder contains 2 textures...which is fine...but the second texture...with the bluer hues seems to not load &/or stops Celestia in its' tracks..with a crash.... :( has anybody else had this happen?...

Re: My extrasolar planets (don`t laugh too loud)
Hi Dave, These are nice images, they remind me of the old Skylab footage, kind of slightly washed out... or old film print. Even though I 'in principle' know what you have done, and Dollan, and others , I have never attempted doing something like this myself, well done :) Dollan, just a question on ...

Re: 2K Moon Base Texture "Natural" Color !
It does seem strange,.. I thought whirlwind was developed by NASA itself
therefore I would have thought, Considering the success of G**@Le Earth
that 'gettin rid o tha noise" would be first priorty to releasing such a dataset.

Re: All Vts
Just to add to Andrea's reply, Celestians, in the main part work on a 'limit of knowledge" basis which is why many of the..... errm... "closer planets/objects"(-relative to Earth that is...) have much more detail (models at all... :? ) the exciting thing though is that we are still sending craft out...

What exactly is Arcbuilders really about?
Dear fellow Celestians, I've seen the ML. I've seen the web-site. I clearly understand this as a work of fiction, but if you care to post your take on what the whole Arcbuilders thing is especially with it's relation to Celestia. I for one whould be interested to know...to clarify, As a work of fict...

Re: Dreaming about a better Celestia Forum...
I would like to add to this thread.... I have SLOWLY been learning more about Celestia over the last few months (earth time). much of this has been through exploring this forum and trial and error with addons etc. what I know at this point is that Celestia is a quite extrodinary piece of freeware(to...

Re: The New Mars Texture
Aaaaahhh :o Perhaps that is where the confusion is, before embarking on this I downloaded every thing I could from the ML to enhance the Mars model including jestr's Mars features ...so that being the case i guess my question is, apart from the 4 large volcanoes and Gusev crater ,does this normalmap...

Re: The New Mars Texture
I did this in the hope that I would be able to set the normalmap as an alternate (right-click) feature. this didn't work so Selden kindly had a suggestion I then created a file in Celestia>data called 16maps.ssc and within added the following text: AltSurface "16kmaps" "Sol/Mars" { Texture "16K-surf...
