Just for impatients (a personal note, somewhat offtopic)
Some of you have noticed that I slowed down the updates of my site ( http://bruckner.homelinux.net ). I just wanted to reassure you that I'm not done with the site. It's just that any common day, after 12+ work hours -we are in a rush right now- and 2+ hours drive (to get to work) I'm not in the exa...

bruckner.homelinux.net downtime
I'm currently upgrading my system (web server included), so the page will be down for this whole day. I'm sorry for any inconvenience!

@ marc
For files larger than, say, 5 MB, it might be a good idea to use sourceforge as a storage space (with mirrors, no less). I'd link the files from a dedicated page, however, to try and give them a maximum of visibility. Is this ok for you?
Greetings!

It's the bandwidth!
@ Rassilon & D.Edwards: Remember my problem is bandwidth, not storing space. I'm limited to 13 KB/s (more or less) upstream (from my side) due to my not-so-cheap (but tiny) DSL setup. However, if you'd like to bear that (or your files are not multi MB monsters) I could make a download page for y...

I'm back! (I == Bruckner, btw)
You'll notice I've started to add new add-ons to my list, so don't hesitate to visit it again: http://bruckner.homelinux.net/addons.html Offtopic: Plenty of changes during these last two weeks! It's nice to see a new forum dedicated to textures. It's nicer to experience some peace in the traditional...

bruckner.homelinux.net's author scheduled maintenance ;-)
Hi everybody! I'm on vacation from now until July, 9th, so I won't be able to publish add-ons during this period. Feel free to continue sending them, just be somewhat more patient. Should there be connectivity problems with my site (a blackout comes to mind) you won't be able to access my site until...

Little simplification
I just deleted references to meshes. The original used a blank 3ds mesh as center of mass, but I don't believe it's needed to show the effect. I forgot to delete the "CustomOrbit" and "Albedo" lines, so much for "genius"! By the way, I'll be on vacation from Sunday for two weeks, away from my deskto...

Over-culling
Some days ago I received a mail from someone by the name "Macca the Marra", explaining that he had tried Celestia to account for the fact that systems like Pluto and Charon have a common center of mass around which both bodies rotate. That happens also here, in the Moon-Earth system, but since that ...

It would be so wonderful...
I've found a catalog more suitable for direct data extraction: the Sixth Catalog of Orbits of Visual Binary Stars. It's available here: http://ad.usno.navy.mil/wds/orb6.html There are orbital elements for 1660 stellar systems (majority of double ones, but also multiples) in the same format planetary...

What about...?
It's nice to be able to add stars, but it would be nicer to be able to add them just like planets. The orbital parameters of certain double systems are known. That would be spectacular!
Greetings.

... it's just because I've not received it. I publish everything I receive (be it real or fantasy), but nothing gets published without express permission from the author. And the best way to have that is to receive an e-mail with the files and the words: "put it up on your site", or something to tha...

C'est un forum anglophone...
For those unable to read French: he congratulates very warmly Celestia cast & crew for surpassing everything he could even imagine (me too, should I say), as he was developing his own solar system simulator when he stumbled upon Celestia. There is an interesting remark, also: he notes that rings...

Re: Extrasolar Systems Project
If you want to prepare zips for your systems, I could host them in my site. If you prefer to host them yourself, please drop me a link so I can add it to my list. I just don't believe that leaving scattered references around the forum allows enough people to enjoy your masterpieces (I'm not kidding!...

Another comment
Sorry about replying to myself, but this is an unrelated matter... I generated a trimmed-down version of the monster asteroid file with all asteroids greater than 50 km in radius. There were more than 400 of them, but Celestia performed quite well (in fact I didn't notice the difference)... That mad...

Yep
I'll publish shortly* the Perl script I used to generate the file... Right now it allows to extract subsets of the whole asteroid database, just by changing some constants in the source code. I'm adding some documentation to the source... The available conditions are: - Maximum body count (useful to...

Take care!

Monster asteroid data file
Hello everybody! Trying to push the limits of Celestia, I tried to implement a suggestion Fridger gave a while back. My original asteroid add-on only contained orbits for 50 big asteroids... Now, I've polished my Perl skills to produce a ssc file for all 7309 orbits on the IRAS Minor Planet Survey (...
