Re: Joysticks
I'm almost positive you can already use a Joystick in Celestia, however, I myself am not entirely sure HOW you do it. Its apparently built into it, but maybe you have to calibrate your joystick or something. I dont know much about the techinical side of Celestia.

Re: Is the Andromeda Galaxy going to collide with the Milky Way?
When or if that happens, the human race will have either conquered the entire galaxy and beyond, or gone extinct. So does it really matter what happens in several billion years? Well I should be one to talk, since I am interested in this stuff too, so yeah. I'd say it will collide, and when that hap...

Re: Generic Planet Textures
Alright thanks everybody, now i'll look through these links. Thanks for your time :) That planetgen program is very interesting, but I dont really have the skills to make a semi-real looking planet (at least what i'm looking for) out of that. Oh and that Wilbur thing I might read how to get that to ...

Re: Generic Planet Textures
Ok, I'll look into it, but I'm more looking for Earthlike worlds, not so much rocklike. But rocklike could help out in some ways as well. Thanks.

Re: .SSC File Correction
Just out of curiousity, would this 'halo' that you are making have anything to do with Halo the video game?

Generic Planet Textures
Hi, I'm looking for some generic planet textures to use in a little addon I'm making, and since I can't make anything myself, I thought I'd see if I can find anything and use it. (with their permission of course) So if anyone knows where I can find something like textures used in a random solar syst...
Re: Halo WIP
Ah I see, I didn't look familiar though. I might have to go back to that level and see for myself. I also noticed its in my Art of Halo book, on one of the front pages, but its got a huge logo over it so you can't really tell what it is. Its a good book though, very interesting.

Alright thanks, I figured it had something to do with that, I didn't know it wasn't supposed to be there all together heh. Thanks.
Re: Halo WIP
Hey I found a really cool picture that should help if you are still working on this project: http://nikon.bungie.org/misc/cmullins/blastofflayout.jpg It was made by a Bungie artist for a cinematic that didn't make the final cut. Amazing. Oh and this is most likely Installation 05, used in Halo 2, no...

Re: My updated Titan texture (2k)
This is weird, I'm getting a strange blue haze around titan that isnt in your picture. Heres the the Titan part in solarsys.ssc: "Titan" "Sol/Saturn" { Texture "titan.*" Color [ 0.8 0.2 0.45 ] HazeColor [ 0.781 0.629 0.975 ] HazeDensity 6 Radius 2575 Atmosphere ...
Re: Halo WIP
Sounds good, I'd like to see how it comes out. Speaking of Reach, I have all of the cinematics of Halo 2 on my harddrive, including the one that very briefly shows Reach, I could probably take a screenshot or two for you to check out if you do decide to do Reach. Threshold and Basis shouldn't be as ...

Re: Celestia capability
I don't know if I'm qualified to answer this, but I'll try to help out. I wouldn't really say Celestia can do 'photorealistic' pictures, but it can give a quite accurate view of the sky from any point in space, whether it be from another solar system or on Earth. What I mean is, depending on your co...
Re: Halo WIP
Oo, I was hoping my post several months ago would start something, and look what it has sparked. A few months ago I was talking about doing this, but I never really got started. I got sort of side tracked and such, but thats fine with me. You are doing a much better job than I could have done. This ...

Oh dang, those are pretty good. I want to download them as well. I assume you are still figuring out the names right? Since One, Two, etc, arent really that exciting. Very nice work though.

Re: [cassini] Iapetus
I suppose you mean equatorial trench, cause Iapetus already has an "equatorial ridge and centrally peaked crater" as you put it. Now if we found one with an equatorial trench... Interesting. I think it is just a common feature for some moons to have huge craters that look like death star guns. If yo...

Well sheesh, where is the Alliance when you need them, the Death Star is mating when we arent looking... But Tethys i dont think is as Death Star-ish.

Re: A Bishop Ring Orbital
I have been planning on putting Halo in Celestia, but havent gotten around to anything yet. Looks like I could use the same method as the Ringworld addon. Interesting. Oh and for those that dont know, Halo is a ringworld sort of thing in the popular Xbox game of the same name. ;) (if you still dont ...

Re: [cassini] Iapetus
Yeah yeah, but this could be the Death Star II maybe, I don't know. But Mimas doesnt have the trench (aka mountain range ) that this does. There is room in our solar system for two Death Stars i suppose. Any more will not do.
