What about the mipmaps ? Fridger didn`t include them in his tutorial.
Are they really useful ?

Re: Default Screen Display Mode

If you rightclick on your celestia desktop-icon (windows) go to properties.
Then in the target-path for the celestia.exe you can add the option -fullscreen .
Maybe do a search here cause it is explained more precise here in the board, cause I am not so sure about the exact syntax...

Re: why is this happening

BTW: My last graphics-card did make noises   : I could hear every change on the screen whispering out of the card. Never heard of that before but after a search in a 3D-Forum I found that this is a known issue !!!! 8O First I thought about my power supply being too weak but it was rock-sta...

Re: Radio transmission range into space?

Ok I??ll try but there are lots of details concerning antenna sizes, used wavelenght and he??s not only writing about whats possible but also whats relistic. Example for that is the question: What transmission power would other civilisations use ? If we look at ourselves we should suppose: not much ...

Re: Radio transmission range into space?

A very interesting Article can be found here about the distances you could reach using microwaves. I??m afraid it is only in german... http://www.amsat-dl.org/go-mars/pdf/interstellare_kommunikation.pdf Karl Meinzer was project leader in several satelite projects of Amsat DL and is also involved in ...

But there was the spreadsheet for converting TLE??s directly into ssc-language.
Isn??t it working anymore ?
(I made a openoffice-version cause the original didn??t work in german-Oo.)

Re: poor CPU performance?

BTW my PC is a good example for a system where the cpu is the bottleneck:
The framerate without AA and AF is the same like 4xAA and 16xAF.
With my tons of addons I only come over 85 fps if I leave the sun-surrounding (2 mill-star database addon) with vsync=on I have instantly around 80% CPU-load.

Re: poor CPU performance?

This way you could take equal results with lower CPU, or best with the same, or watch more objects or add-ons, etc. More people would have a better experience or even use this great educational (and entertaining, the best combination) program. This is simply wrong. If you want to use as many addons...

Re: NASA TV

Yes I think it is the server-broadcast-limit that sets the maximum speed.
But I'll look into my settings.
I am quite sure they are set to my bandwith or at least auto-detect.

Nevertheless I am very happy to be able to watch NASA-TV without loading-breaks. Small but nice :D

Ok :D
The forums here in Germany are ful of " why do I get a low id ... ? " stuff... :D
so I thought I??d better point to the router thing.

:) Thank you Andrea for explaining it, I wouldn??t have done it so good and I know only the german help sites. What I would like to add before the difficulties start is that it makes sense to read the texts about routers and emule carefully. It??s not difficult but with routers you have to ta...

Only some cosmetics, the real work did Steve Albers but for people who want to be only users it is easier to install a complete package ready for celestia.

Nice, I??ll stay online the night until monday 9 pm GMT. Afterwards mostly between 4 pm and 10 pm but if you are downloading i wont kick you out. Re: Steve Albers textures

After my nightly dsl forced disconnect and reconnect my emule didn??t get the new ip but now it should work. I loaded the first file to ml about a week ago... and the next problem is the 8MB limit of motherlode. Even if I separate the two enceladus textures in two zip packages they are too big and I...
