make sure that the texture dimensions are a power of two, ie: 256,512,1024 etc

Re: I NEED HELP
It's because Celestia was loading deathstar2.ssc before loading starwars.ssc and not finding Endor. (ssc files are loaded alphabetically and D is before S)

Re: Celestia on Mandrake 9.0
Sorry, my earlier post was wrong.
I just ran a rpm -qf on the libGL files and they are apparently provided by Mandrake's XFree86-libs and XFree86-devel RPMs. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Mandrake 9.0. No problems compiling celestia or installing it from rpm. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Search the forums for 'flexify'. It's a plugin for photoshop that'll do what you need.

Re: Convert TLE info into SSC
Well that's weird, the permissions are all ok, the server must be using some funky extension detection or something.
Renamed them to .perlscript and they seem to download fine now.

Re: Convert TLE info into SSC
Thanks for letting me know about the perl files. The files are served from a hosting company so unfortunately I don't have total control over the server settings. I could probably solve the issue through .htaccess files somehow but in the meantime I've renamed the .pl files to .pl.txt as you suggest...

Re: Can anyone help
Are you sure it's symlinked correctly? Remember that Unix filesystems are case-sensitive. What output do you get if you type into a shell:
ls -al /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so
if it's there and points to another file, then make sure that file exists and is spelled properly. Hope this helps.

Re: Convert TLE info into SSC
I hacked together a perl script a while back to do this:
http://www.skullcave.com/celestia/tle2ssc.pl
Open it up in a text program to see how it works and edit it as needed. You need Perl installed to run the script, of course.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Textures must be a power of 2. ie: their dimensions must be 128,256,512,1024,2048,4096,8192 or 16384 pixels along each side.

Re: Homeworld - Anyone played?
I played it years ago and remember it being a fantastic game, like nothing I'd ever seen before. The nebulous backgrounds and cinematic music was amazing. I don't remember the earlier levels clearly though.

S/2002 J1 - Jupiter's 40th moon
A new 'moon' has been discovered orbiting Jupiter. I've updated the jupiter-moons.ssc file on my website but here is the section for just 2002 J1: "S/2002 J1" "Sol/Jupiter" { Texture "asteroid.jpg" Mesh "asteroid.cms" Radius 1.5 EllipticalOrbit { Epoch 2452400.5 Period 715.58 SemiMajorAxis 23064000 ...

Re: New names for Jupiter's moons
Thanks! I also noticed that your moon files cause conflicts with celestia because they includes moons that are already in the solarsys.ssc file. Yeah I know, I put all the gas giant moons in their own ssc files so my solarsys.ssc file only contains the 9 planets + Luna, Phobos, Deimos & Charon....

Re: New names for Jupiter's moons
I don't think the default celestia installation or the minor moons add-on has them. You can find their orbital parameters in my ssc files at http://www.skullcave.com/celestia/
(I'll update the files with the new names tonight if I have time)

You're probably downloading it with internet explorer and the file is being corrupted. Try using a dedicated download manager like Getright or Flashget.
