Re: Current project: Modified Stargen (a solar system generator)

1. It has to do with how many times the random number generator is called by the program. One version has more calls then the other though I can't remember which one...
2. Try installing the GNU Scientific Library.
3. No.

Re: (suggestion) Encryption with Let's Encrypt

Unfortunately there are some who enjoy the disruption they can cause by stealing others' accounts. Not to mention there's a lot of people who use the same exact log-in info for different places. However, given the amount of traffic (or rather lack of) here, I doubt anyone would try to steel usernam...

I still have a few hundred stars I don't have enough info for. I'm slowly finding that info.

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development will begin soon

I'll gladly help with updating the exoplanet catalog. It desperately needs updating. This is true. But in addition to extrasolar planets catalog updates requires the same and their individualization. In modern Celestia planet outside solar system very templates and it's time to fix it. omega13a , I...

Update:
Fixed a bug that kept all the stars in the STC file from displaying.
Slowly going through all the stars to find if they have alternate names.

Download links are still the same.

Confirmed Exoplanets

Using the data I've gotten from PHL's Exoplanets Catalog , I made a PHP script that produces the contents for the SSC file for the confirmed exoplanets and the STC file for their stars. Both I am sure are filled with issues, especially the STC file. There are some stars missing from the STC because ...

Re: Planet b around proxima centauri !

When displaying many objects (for example, stars in a cluster) if you provide only the minimum valid precision, then they'll seem to align with one another in sheets or on a grid, which is itself very non-physical. The additional digits can be used to provide a random displacement for each of the o...

Re: Planet b around proxima centauri !

But it is still exciting to have something so close to our solar system. At best I think it would probably be home to extrememophiles.
