Re: Celestia needs 1GB of RAM?
it could be that you are running low on hd space and windows is having to use the swapfile more and more. try running disk clean but note that disk clean doesnt get rid of all the temp files for come odd reason. you will need to look in c:\windows\temp and c:\documents and settings\{username}\local ...

Re: Gravity, Celestia, and the universe
Dont forget also that every object in space bends gravity according to its mass. For example mars going around the Sun is caused by two aspects (if im right). 1. The centrifugal force making the planet orbit the Sun, 2. Gravity. Imagine a huge rubber sheet laid out and hovering about the ground by l...

Re: Forum is down until Dec 5. Sorry.
I agree that a "general" forum is needed to discuss other things. But I dont like the idea of calling it "Moderate discussion", sounds like it would be heavily sensored or something.
How about calling it "Black Hole". It still reflects the forums theme while giving it an astronomy related title.

Re: v1.3.2 final - Display Problems
On mine the IIS solar panels shimmer. They did that in 1.3.1 also. also i think the ring shadows on saturn are wrong. They seem way too big for me. for example: http://www.rndnet.org/other/screenshots/saturn.jpg If you type saturn in Googles image bank, youll notice how narrow the ring shadow is.

Cant wait for it to go final. I have one suggestion Id like to see though. The option to change the temporature of a Sun or planet. K doesnt mean a great deal but celsius would.

Re: Sneak Peek! New Pictures Added!!!!
Nice work so far, just a few problems I have though: Is the large ice covered version supposed to be of the great ice age? If so they're not completely acurate. Britain and indeed the North Sea were completely covered by ice. Also you havent taken into account the increased landmass due to the lower...

v1.3.1 crashes everytime on exit
Im using Mandrake 10 Official with KDE 3.2 with 1.3.1 Celestia installed and no addons. Everytime I exit the program it keeps crashing. Here is the backtrace report: This backtrace appears to be of no use. This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creating of proper ba...
