Re: Please report problems with the MacOS X version here.

Ok the download works for me now. Maybe this was a problem with my default mirror being down or so.

Re: Please report problems with the MacOS X version here.

Yes there is some weird behaviour on the sourceforge-download but check out the 12k file you got, its actually not a dmg but the html where you can choose a mirror. Do a little investigation in that and you'll get the right download-link.
So you're not the only one ;)
Uploaders please fix that.

Re: How is OS X development proceeding?

Maybe Chris you need to get yourself a 23" cinema display too to focus more on oSX :D
No but really: a new version for osx (supporting dds-textures) would be sooo great.

Re: What's the latest on cards...

Yes you are a little wrong ;) As I said I am using a mobillity radeon 7500 in my powerbook. Actually all mobile macs use ati-chips. There was some period where desktop-macs mostly used gf-cards but now they have atis 9000/9700 and before they had the rage chips. Same here as everywhere... I have to ...

Re: What's the latest on cards...

I have a PowerBook with a 32 MB Mobility Radeon 7500 - said to be supporting dds-Files. Still I can't seem to get them working :/
Is this a problem with the gpu, osx or am I just too dumb?

Re: How is OS X development proceeding?

I just remembered: Didn't Chris buy a G4 last months? So maybe we can expect a better support for osx in the next versions. Might that be true Chris? Cause it would be really cool. Still I'm stuck with my mobile radeon 7500 which isn't too well supported in celestia but a cocoa-version where I don't...

1280*854 on my PowerBook DVI
Well actually it's a little less cause I can't figure out how to run the 1.2.2 in Osx and fullscreen!? Anybody knows?

Is there any way to get the latest sources/binaries for the cocoa-version? I'd really like to try it out :)

Re: Europa at 8k !

:( Strange but I can't seem to open venus8k and europa8k. They just stay black. I did put them into the medres folder and changed the solarsys.ssc Funny because I don't have problems watching the 16k-earthmaps and stuff. Maybe the *.jpg format makes problems at this size? If the what should I change...

Re: How is OS X development proceeding?

Just a short message to encourage everybody who's porting Celestia to OSX. Though 1.2.2 works nicely on my ibook600 (having replaced earth with smaller textures of course) I'd love to see a native cocoa-version. Still I know from my own tiny compiling-tries that it's not that easy. I'd love to be he...

Re: Pixel shader vs. vertex shader?

the question remains... I also think that vertex shaders seem to have funny effects. Of course viewing the reflection of the sun on the oceans is pretty nice but mars only seems brighter and loosing bump mapping effects. Turning them off seems much better to me there. What are the vertex shaders act...

Re: Freezes on Mac OS X 10.1.3

Well, reinstalling isn't really doing it on OSX since the most famous port is just "installed" via drag&drop. Also there are no Preference-files created which could cause a problem. So the only solution I know is to use different textures. I personally couldn't watch the latest earth-textures so...

Re: Relativistic Universe, and fourth dimension...

I think with our few knowledge it's difficult to work out the 4th dimension. Like you can travel to a star 1000s of ly's away which definitively isn't where you travelled to, eventually doesn't even exist anymore. You are actually travelling in a virtual environment which never existed like this and...

Re: Celestia on a new iMac ?

I'm running it on the new imac and get roughly between 5 and 20fps, depending on the environment I'm in, nothing to compare to my GeForce on the PC. Also the 8MB Video-RAM suck a lot. But it's ok to enjoy space in my opinion.

Re: Na'ir al Saif system (5) planets

I suppose the orbits of moons and planets are just your guess are they? There are pretty strange formations of how fast and in which angle the planets rotate around themselves and around their planet/sun which I think don't exist in real.
Where did you get the data from?

hey thx chris! Though I already figured out most of the calls, this is definetivly a time-saver. A call to set/clear the showFPS would be nice too since I use this very often to check performance. If you need any help building a html-documentation let me know, I already made my own half-help with th...

Re: about OSX

ehmmmm...
is there any plain low-resolution-set? I can only see the complete win-version.
Anyway if anybody could give a list of working script-commands I'd appreciate it. So far the OSX-version runs great, but is one helluva workaround compared to the win-one.

about OSX

Hey there! GREAT WORK! I was experimenting with openuniverse for quite some time and while looking for a new beta, found Celestia. This prog rocks. I'm using it on all three platforms (Win, Linux and OSX). The graphic Quality on my GF2 is just amazing, especially the shadows of craters and stuff. Un...
