Re: Photosynth (Seadragon)

Well, maybe that's how it's described, but the examples I've seen do not create 3D objects. The tours of the shuttle and its launch pad just blend together pictures taken from different locations. It doesn't create 3D objects that you can look at from any angle: you only can see the pictures that a...

Re: Photosynth (Seadragon)

I believe that future is already here. It's likely the new Google Sky uses a similar software technology... from its description, it sounds exactly to be that of Seadragon in functionality. No, it's something completely different... Google Sky is just a flat map/image (well, many images from variou...

Re: Google's Latitude & Longitude vs VT locations

GE images are not always properly georeferenced (sometimes the imagery is shifted by many, many metres).
You should also try using coordinates given by World Wind or Virtual Earth - so you'll know if it's GE or Celestia VT fault.

Re: Google Earth

But do you really need images from GE? Because if you create textures for whole planets (as I understand) then the resolution is like... a few km per pixel? So you could use public domain data from NASA/USGS (available in World Wind) as well.

Or NASA World Wind ;) (as long as we're talking about displaying, not creating, the data)

Hmm... maybe Clementine? http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/clementine.html http://www.cmf.nrl.navy.mil/clementine/clib/ http://www.cmf.nrl.navy.mil/clementine/clem_collect/title.html There are also 3 datasets in NASA World Wind with resolution ~200m/px http://www.worldwindcentral.com/wiki/Moon

Re: Earth has white ocean

Well, excuse me - for not being an expert.... I am using version 1.3.2.0 of celestia. I ran the same program on a lesser machine with win2000 with no problem, except speed. I just wondered if someone else experienced this problem with Xp or is it something else. Obviously there is no obvious answer...

Re: Winstars 2

Version 2.0 has been available since 25 January. Yes, it looks like Celestia but it is limited only to Solar System. I found WinStars interface not so "user friendly" (you can only jump from one location to another and cannot travel and navigate like in Celestia)

Re: What music you like to hear while using Celestia!

I've never played Celestia with music but I'd chose Solaris soundtrack (by Cliff Martinez). These beautiful sounds were great in movie - will perfectly fit with Celestia

ATI and OGL 2.0 problems...

Chris, maybe the problem is caused by ATI drivers not Celestia itself. Every release of catalyst is fixing old and adding new errors in games and aplications:) Maybe you'll write to ati guys and they fix it too...

Re: Celestia 1.4.0 prerelease 5

mk and Commander David, Please post the contents of shaders.log. Chris needs to see the error messages generated by ATI's shader compiler. Log seems to have *no* error messages... :? Vertex shader source: 1: uniform struct { 2: vec3 direction; 3: vec3 diffuse; 4: vec3 specular; 5: vec3 halfVec...

Still nothing on Radeon 9600... :(
Earth looks like a disco ball or sth.
Oh, there is one difference - Saturn is no longer red! Now it's black :)

I don't want to download 11MB on modem. And there's only previous version on Chris page. Maybe someone could put the file on a website?
