So is this the final nail in Celestia's coffin ?
I'm so sad this project died.

Re: Cool NASA
While I agree the link, singer and song are asinine, have you somehow missed the Trek and starwars plugins? Immune? Not even close..PlutonianEmpire wrote:The entire time I've been here, I've always believed that the Celestia community was immune from the influences of pop culture crap,...

Hopefuly nobody's getting bored w/ this thread. NASA just put up the Full resolution of the Full Landing video Even if you're not on the fastest of connections... it's wellllll worth the d/l time at the top resolution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZX5GRPnd4U&feature=youtu.be

Curiosity trivia
Here's little triva on the Rover. As I'm sure most of you know when moving the rover they often refer to distance moved in "wheel rotations". In order to make it easy to tell 1 complete rotation, they marked Curiosity's "feet" http://www.upl.co/uploads/curiositysfeet.jpg Look car...

Re: NASA EYES MSL (mars)
I stayed up last night to watch the landing. So impressive. NASA is having a press conference now. A few minutes ago, they showed a stop-motion video created from images taken from Curiosity itself as it landed. It showed the heat shield falling away and the dust being blown up by the landing rocket...

Just under 5GB. I really thought it would be larger than that, I have quite a few add ons in the extra folder. *shrug*

Sure, lots of times. I wish I had a scanner, I'd post a picture I took in Yosemite National Park of it doing exactly that.

Curiosity goes up Saturday (Mars Mission)
"Curiosity" launches Saturday morning 10:02am EST / 15:02 UST This is a nearly 1 ton Mars probe. NASA Tv has been running info on it, and of course will cover the launch of the Atlas V lifter. NASA/JPL UStream channel. will be broadcasting the lunch as well. Fingers crossed. >> edit << Due...

... Looking at the development of Celestia, compared to the activity of the Cosmographia project - is it safe to assume that Celestia is dead by now? (I know that this question was already answered with 'no' back in August, but that does not seem very convincing...) Man I hope not. This is an amazi...

Re: Importing NASA's 3d models? (possible?)
Thanks John, I knew I was grasping at straws when I posted. I was fairly sure that if it could be done (and was worth doing) one of the folks here would already have been on it. I'm familiar with both those repositories. There really is some amazing work in both of them. I was just hoping to have fo...

Importing NASA's 3d models? (possible?)
While clicking through NASA's page, I found they have a few 3D models, several of which are in .3ds format similar to the Celestia plugins I've looked at. Is there a way to import these things into Celestia? Link to models page I'd especially love to see the Agena Target Vehicle and the Saturn V roc...

Re: Can bookmarks point to scripts?
Marco Klunder ...I'm sorry, I didn't know THIS difference between Linux/Windows Celestia distributions .. Oh, no problem.. :) I'm surprised it is a difference. selden I've never run a Linux version of Celestia, but... aren't Celestia's scripts (filetypes .cel and .celx) associated with Celestia und...

Re: Shuttle plugin not working for me.
... Have you looked at the contents of the file Atlantis.ssc ? (It's a plain text file.)... The log will show no errors if Celestia interprets the ssc catalog file as being empty or containing only a comment line. (I'm wondering if somehow the difference between Mac and Linux line terminators is ca...
