Puzzling Download Attack on my Celestia Server
Hi to all, Yesterday between 6:00 UTC and 8:00 UTC someone caused about 10 GBytes of traffic on my Celestia Download Server. This is a bit weird, because the biggest Addon Collection I host is about 35 MBytes, and all hosted files together sum up to about 180 MBytes. I've set a monthly traffic limit...

Re: [world building] How gas giants affect habitability
Which kind of sientific divisions do those researches. Yes, they're astronomers obviously, but this seems to be rather specialised for 'common' astronomy. Do astronomers subdivide meanwhile? What an odd question. Well, not sooo odd. I'm not deep in the subject. Most would think, 'well astrophysicia...

I also wonder how stable and detailed the models are that they use for calculations. I would be surprised if ...

Re: Anyone want to be in my book, or give me ideas?
Maxim, Curt is part of the Offspring(The Humans) or the descendants of the creators. So, he is supposed to act heroic. Even though the humans are known as weak and curt will prove them wrong. Well, but you shouldn't need to explain that. The reader should at least have vage idea of something specia...

The story proceeds too fast. No one would act as fearless as your hero does in real life. What about the feelings, doubts and thoughts of your characters? They are essential for a good story development.

Re: realtime interface to Celestia
My question was only for curiosity. I don't have plans. But there are certainly several possible scenarios for a usefull app-to-app communication: - A spaceflight simulation is definitely not the main purpose of Celestia, but a similar scenario can make use of a 3-wall, 4-wall or 6-wall cave (which ...

Re: realtime interface to Celestia
What exactly can your realtime celestia do. Is it possible to synchronise two celestia applications, running on different computers, over the net.
Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Re: Fading Comet Tails in Multiple Star Systems
To my feeling multiple suns should primarily increase the angle that defines the tails width within areas of similar amounts of light pressure. Starting with a picture of two tails for a binary system, every tail will also be affected by the light pressure of its non-adjacent sun. Thus it will try t...

Re: Physicists: How To Blow Someone Up In An MRI
Ok, so let's adjust it a bit: Of course not all macro molecules remain stable. There are lot's of external magnetic fields like in power supplies, electric drives, electric machines, scan portals of security areas, mobile phones, ... They all cause small local portions of the molecules to disrupt an...

Re: Physicists: How To Blow Someone Up In An MRI
If it was a simple james bond scenario one would use a fullerene or lipid-like macro-molecule which would enclose some high toxic substance, and then let the molecule lose it's structural integrity on an external magnetic field. So you'd have to check molecule physics for how /that/ could work. maxim
