Reintroduction To Celestia
Greetings. I've recently returned to Celestia after quite a long absence. I haven't been active since around 2008, so I'm trying to learn how to use the Forum all over again. Some (if any) of you might remember me. I had to make a minor adjustment to my User-Name because I've long since had a new em...

Re: New planetary maps.Where are they?
If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that, judging from the information in the article itself, these maps are not yet complete and therefore, not yet available to the general public. The article you linked to, implies that computers are still compiling all the data necessary for Mr. Gaskell to compl...

Re: Really High-Res texture for earth?
Thanks Cartrite. That texture kit was my first download of the process. Though admittedly, it'll probably be a while until I'm actually ready to tackle this project, I'm kind-of looking forward to it. My time management is still a bit stifled. I just updated your site to my favorites. Can't wait to ...

Re: Really High-Res texture for earth?
Well, I've been out of the loop for quite some time. I've recently been able to find the time to install and enjoy the new version of Celestia. Not only have I been out of the Celestia loop but, my computering skills have somewhat diminished too. All in good time though, I hope to bring all these ba...

Re: RAM ?
I hope I didn't misunderstand your post but, if you're operating system is 32bits and, it's a Windows system, some of the RAM will be reserved for system devices. This may be the cause for your system displaying less than it's full compliment of RAM. On 64bit Windows systems, the full amount of RAM ...

Re: Celestia on Vista ?
I have a few suggestions that may improve performance on Windows Vista. First, you have to right-click on " Computer " and choose " Properties " from the menu. Second, in the left pane, you must click on " Advanced System Settings ". When the prompt-box appears, make su...

Visible Granulation
Medusa, I understand the concept of Photosperic, Chromospheric, etc., admittedly at some great cost. Their references to "surface convection cells" and "granulation", at least to me, seem to refer to actual, physical properties (viewable through a telescope). I certainly would feel silly creating a ...

Stellar Convection
:? Medusa, Maybe you can help me here. I have found many references referring to the existence of surface convection, not only on A-Type stars but, also on White Dwarfs. For example: "The next part was on surface convection in A type stars, which possess two distinct convection zones (H/HeI + HeII)....

Malenfant, I don't know if this link will provide what you need since, I didn't see any direct references to Inclinations but, it does provide a wealth of information about individual and multiple star systems. Maybe it'll help you with your calculations. http://nstars.nau.edu/index.cfm?fuseaction=s...

Sirius Work
For the longest time, I've been looking to create a texture for a White Dwarf. The first obstacle I had to overcome was time. I had no time to work on textures or anything Celestia related. That obstacle is now behind me, for now. The next obstacle was, trying to figure out exactly what a White Dwar...

Awesome Model!
Couldn't the attitude adjusters be placed at the base (On a long, ship like this) near the primary thrusters? Or, maybe the outer ports on the primary thrusters could be angled accordingly to serve as the adjusters.

Upper Mass Limits
There is an (theoretical) upper mass limit for stars. Current studies suggest this mass limit to fall somewhere between 120-200 SM. There are other studies that give a range of 150-300 SM. Additionally, the mass of a star (usually) is influenced by and commensurate with variables in it's environment...

Neutron Stars
Actually, (I think), the theoretical, upper mass limit for Neutron Stars is no greater than 3 Solar masses. I don't think that any of the current (confirmed) Neutron Stars exceed 2 SM. I wasn't sure where to post this so, I stuck it here. While researching a current project, I came across this website.
