Me, too! I really hope NASA and ESA will announce a plan to send a couple of rovers to Titan sooner than later. This looks like a world that's worth exploring!

Re: New Information on Regulus

So, when will we have this modeled in Celestia? It would be a very interesting stop in a tour of the universe!

How many developers are working on the source code?

I'm just curious how many programmers are actively engaged in working on new features in the source code. Does anyone have an idea?

Slow rendering

I'm not sure why my PC is pausing so often when rendering. When I "go to" a selected object in Celestia, I can watch the simulation travel most of the way to the object (stars whizzing past), then before the object appears the PC pauses for 5 or more seconds and then the selected object is rendered....

Re: Can an addon be toggled on and off?

Hi, I think there is a better way with Altsurface method : making a ssc file in extra directory for example 'earth venus.ssc' with this code inside AltSurface "Earth venus" "Sol/Earth" { Texture "venus.*" } this permit going to the earth and right click in the menu that appear click on Alternate su...

Can an addon be toggled on and off?

Is there a way in Celestia to toggle on and off a particular addon?

Huygens question

Reading on the Cassini-Huygens web site, it talks about the Huygens probe's descent through the atmosphere taking 2 1/2 hours. Why will it take so long, at the speed it travels, to descend through the atmosphere?

Re: Posting complete Celestia configurations

But isn't this whole idea killing a lot of people's potential creativity!? No. People would still have the ability to decide whether or not to use someone else's universe configuration, and could still add to it or modify it. The freedom is still there. But there are a lot of people who want a part...

Just my opinion.

I'll settle for that! Can we do it? Maybe the best approach is a new forum here at shatters where we can post and discuss our universes.

Posting complete Celestia configurations

I've been downloading some awesome add-ons to Celestia and I've read posts from the "experts" in this forum referring to their own Celestia add-on collections, and it got me thinking... I'll bet there are some pretty awesome add-on collections of Celestia out there that many of us could benefit from...

Re: Problems with add-ons

How about all of the Pioneer spacecraft? I've gotten the models of Pioneers 10 and 11 to work, but the earlier ones don't (using Celestia 1.3.2). Does anyone have good solid add-ons for all the Pioneers? It would be nice if they were all in a single zip file that installed them correctly.

Is there an update to the Educational Activities coming?

The Educational Activities are so outstanding that I use that version of the Celestia installation for all of my Celestia touring. All of the new add-ons I download go into the Educ. Activities folders and directories. Does anyone know if the Educ.l Activities will be updated to work with Celestia 1...

Oooh, I really like that suggestion. It would also make it easier to calculate how long it would take to get from point A to point B at different speeds. Nice idea!

A simple pulsar question

I'm an engineer, not a physicist. So please forgive my simple question. Since pulsars are very tiny stars, I would assume that their light is emitted omni-directionally. If so, then as they spin, I would expect minimal variation in their intensity. However, based on the amount of change in magnitude...

64-bit version of Celestia?

Are there any plans to create a 64-bit version of Celestia for the new Windows CPUs (e.g., Athlon)?
