Re: Variable star spectral classification

Hi all, I have another beginner question. As I examine the data from Hipparcos, I notice that the start HIP 8 has a spectral classification of M6e-M8.5e Tc . I'm not sure how to interpret this data. Here are my questions: 1) Does the M6e-M8.5e mean that the apparent temperature of the star seems to...

Re: Interior of the planets

Chris, Is it possible to add an SVG overlay option for planets, and have it scale and shift position with the camera? I mentioned this once before, long ago. Instead of having to create a 3d model of the plants with their own textures and models, why not use a single SVG image to represent the inter...

Re: What does a T-Dwarf Really Look Like?

Given that a T-Dwarf has a temperature of 1300 to 800?K It would probably look just like an other ordinary gas giant, except in the infrared spectrum. If i remember correctly you need to get up into the 1800-2000k rage before you have any visible light glow.

Re: How to find Lagrange points???

Simplified version of above. Mass must be greater then 25 to 1 for Lagrange Points to exist a = {\frac {m}{M+m}} Where M = Mass of Primary m = Mass of Child R = Distance Between Objects L1 = r \approx R \times (1 - \sqrt[3] {\frac {a}{3}}) ; 0° Between Primary and Child L2 = r \approx R \tim...

Re: New addon : Orbit of the Solar System in the Milky Way

That’s a pretty sweat add on. I will go as far to say that Chris should add this to the default set on the downloadable. This might have been brought up before brought up before; should we, by that I mean Chris, include this as a extra level in the Celectia. We already have extra solar planets, why ...

Re: LuaEdu Roche's limit add-on

Fenerit the Roche Limit is a little bit more complicated then what you posted. The density of the object comes into play that determines where an object will start to rip apart. Below is the full formula, Because Saturn only has a density of .62 g/cm? it effect the range of the Roche Limit at any gi...

Re: Question about Light Speed travel

Fridger, I don't think anyone is trying to detract from you posting your explanations, however you should keep in mind that most people have a 2d view of the universe, and are not capable of understanding three dimensions yet. This is why when I post I try to give a simple analogy. Sure its not whol...

Re: Question about Light Speed travel

Sorry, that's not the way it works. Photons have no rest mass and do not experience that kind of slowdown. For an accurate technical response to your question, I'd suggest you post it to the BAUT forum at http://www.bautforum.com/questions-answers/ There are many competent physicists there who will...

Re: Question about Light Speed travel

For the traveler looking out at the universe, they would see the universe aging, stars would be created and then die, galaxies would collided, and black holes burnout (theoretically they would see the end of the universe in an instant) because they would not age, but the universe world. From a perso...

Re: Asteroid collision video

The asteroid itself sort of glows as well, before the impact (or at least seems tectonically active) which is obviously bogus. Since physics hardly matters for media people, the glow probably was to make the asteroid look more "malicious" ;-) Fridger [sarcasm]You mean a 8.4 gram bullet tr...

Re: Asteroid collision video

This video does seem to make the rounds, at least this time they fixed the size of the asteroid or it is a planetesimals. Originally it was suppose to be a 50 mile wide impactor, which was bogus. But that being said, the effect are seem to be and probably are accurate (with some artistic license ) T...

If someone can walk me though it i would like to add it to my calc sheet.

Re: And now for something completely different...

rthorvald, I meant to post this a while back to give you some ides on how to create the ship. This was from the Robotech Sentential Series. The Invid Assault Speeder has a (in this case) four sphere design. Its a cross between a bike and a car, and it seems to fit the brief description you had.
