Re: Virtual Celestia?
The company I work for makes an octangenal (sp) room with 8 or 16 projectors in it. You get a 360 degree 2D or 3D view. Each screen is about 6 - 7 ft wide. I have asked about getting Celestia running in it. There is interest but other projects are demanding our time. I remember a thread were someone...

Strong Leonid Meteor Shower Expected This Weekend
Was reading this article and got to wondering. Has anyone made an add-on showing this? Might be kind of interesting to do. I realize that Celestia does not support animation but maybe something could be done to simulate it. The article said as many as two per minute. So if time was speeded up to 10X...

Look For Cosmic dust!
I was over at "Astronomy Picture of the Day" http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap061026.html Yesterday they showed a picture of aerogel with possible evidence of stellar dust caught in it. They are also offering the general public the opportunity to look for the stuff as well. Here is the Link http:/...

Hey: This is a cool sight that I have been going to regularly over the last couple of months http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ Some of you all may know about this but thought I would post a link. The image changes every day so if you read this a couple of days from now backup at the bottom of the pa...

To put on my sale hat on. I second Selden. I think you will be pleasantly suprised. I take it that you are mostly interested in near Earth satellites. You can go to Motherload (this is were people all over the planet have uploaded add-ons of all kinds) download a 2K or 4K image of the Earth. Put the...

Normal Maps
cartrite: I have a program called Deep Exploration. It has the ablity to make normal maps of any image I load. It allows me to input a number between 1-255 to control the bumpiness of the image (8 is the default). I used 4. I made a quick image but was unable to upload the image on imageshack. What ...

Re: Continental-drift animations?
8O The other question would be on what time scale you would display this movement of the landmasses? If you speed up Celestia as fast as it can go I think the land would move very slowly. Am I correct about the millions or hundreds of millions of years these things take? That would be a lot of image...

Adaptive Optics in telescopes
Thought you all might like to read about this technology. I live about 10 miles from the Livermore Lab and worked there 10 years ago. Right after I left (layed off). This project was starting up. I was given the opportunity to visit the first night experiment of the guide star at the lab. They creat...

I am not a chemist or physis but maybe the lack of water vapor is effecting the inverse coloring you mentioned. Maybe someone with the above major could chime in on the effect.

I have no idea what a "modsm" is. You also need to specify your OS, CPU type and speed, RAM and video card with a question as vague as yours. You should also look over the Manual to get a handle on how things work. In the pulldown under help/controls you will see all of the keyboard short cuts that ...

parduz: Here is a little thick that may make this simpler than you think. You can cheat the differance at the end of the clip by dissolving to the begining of the clip over a period of time. Don't know what software you are using but most have what is called cross dissolve or something like it. Make...

You need to look over the Manual to get a handle on how things work. 8O Also if you look in the pulldown under help/controls you will see all of the keyboard short cuts that will make Celestia more managable. I suggest you memorize a few keyboard commands everyday. In no time at all you will be doin...

Bright gallaxaies??
Hello all: I have added addon M31. Looks good however it looks very bright. Here is a thread I found kind of addressing the subject. Looks like it still is in the air as far as a fix? http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9697&highlight=bright+gall Is this true or not? I have loaded two ...

Re: Another low-eccentricity HZ gas giant
Just a thought. When I first started using Celestia I downloaded a script on Saturn. One thing that struck me and I did not know was the amount of H2O that the planet has. Like, as I recall it has something like 90% of all the know H2O in out system. Don't know if this is the cause for the rings but...

So will this medium res/detail model be available for download? I would like to replace the model that I got when I downloaded the program. Thanks for the model Cham. I had noticed the reverse normals also and was planned to fix then but never got around to it. BTW are you going to texture the photo...
