Re: Qt Celestia
Just tested a Windows version, there is a slider to filter the number of hits; this feature seems not bad, so I wonder what was the reason to not use it under KDE... It's just that when I "copied" it the slider wasn't there. Anyway, I'm not sure it's that usefull, 100 or 500 stars, we could just as...

Re: Qt Celestia
- why doubling the info listed in the columns in the contextual menu? It's the same popup menu that's used in the main window. - if a all in one browser is done, then it would be nice to see the type of planets like the type of stars (telluric, gas giant)... That would be nice yes, but we don't cur...

Re: Qt Celestia
Here is what it looks like on KDE: http://celestia.teyssier.org/celestia-browser.png Mainly an improved version of the Windows one with the solar system browser merged in. Right clicking on an object opens up its popup dialog as shown above. Adding filtering options and global marking options as you...

Re: Time Zone acronyms review on Windows
Well, there is no hard limit on the size of the timezone name. Since in French there is no common abbreviation I guess it's either that or nothing. My patch if finally ready, you can get it here . There are three formats available: - Locale: uses strftime %c under Linux, same as TZName under Windows...

Re: I want my Celestia 1.5.0 English version back
I confirm, the marsian locations are not included in the catalog file and may not appear translated whatever your system settings.
The only data files included for translation are solarsys.ssc and earth_locs.ssc as specified in po/Rules-data.

Re: Qt Celestia
KDE itself uses Qt, the current version, KDE3, is based on Qt3 which is not available under the GPL for Windows. The current (released) version of Qt, Qt4, is now available under the GPL on all platforms. Qt4 is not source compatible with Qt3. KDE4, due to be released in January will be available on...

Re: Qt Celestia
I think the problem Stellarium is having is that Qt doesn't provide a way to change the video resolution when going fullscreen. That is in effect a regression compared to the previous versions which were using SDL. Celestia will indeed face the same issue when switching to Qt under Windows. The Linu...

Re: Qt Celestia
Good to know you're working on this Chris. I haven't much time to devote to it myself. Regarding the relative length of text in various languages, that's only a problem when using a somewhat crude toolkit like the MFC (it is showing its age) that does no layouting. Qt like all "modern" toolkits does...

Re: Time Zone acronyms review on Windows
We could use STD/DST and mark the strings for translation. That way the translator can use what is best depending on the language. For exemple: heure d'hiver/heure d'?©t?© in French.

Re: Time Zone acronyms review on Windows
Vincent, I was thinking wouldn't it be even simpler not to display the timezone at all when using local time? Specify UTC when it is in use and simply nothing otherwise, or maybe just 'DST' or 'STD' which is readily available in struct tm. I don't see any way to solve this problem short of integrati...

oh yes, Christophe, fairness etc has a lot to do with this and similar cases. Legally, you are presumably right with your explanations. Personally, I don't care much about all this. We are not commercial distributors of software who have to care about such formal "horror" from within their professi...

All the published textures, from ANYBODY in the Celestia community, are totally free. You can use them and edit them AS YOU WISH, without even having to ask the premission from anybody, as soon as you don't sell the textures or make money from them. I don't agree with this. The Celestia licence mak...

Here's a screengrab: http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/7559/soyouzbugqe5.th.jpg I'm not sure this is related to your addon, but this doesn't happen when I delete your addon from the extras directory... That's because the addon includes objects with empty names, and the empty string gets translated...

Re: Linux static compilation
Assuming you're building the KDE frontend, your /another/path needs also to be defined in the KDEDIRS variable. This should work: KDEDIRS=$KDEDIRS:/another/path /another/path/bin/celestia -dir /another/path/share/celestia You also have to make sure that the symbolic link /another/path/share/apps/cel...

Yes, create a link in /usr/share/apps pointing to /usr/share/celestia :
Code: Select all
ln -s /usr/share/celestia /usr/share/apps

It's still on my agenda, although I've put it back a bit. I'm waiting for the KDE4 libs to stabilies, for the time being it's too much work keeping up with the svn.

Re: Smooth high precision orbits patch
I'm seeing the same sharp drop in frame rate. About 30% with asteroid orbits off, and over 50% when on.
It also does not completely solve the problem of the orbit not going through the body, especialy in the case of small bodies.
