Re: Celestia -installation + Constellation Explaining Script

Ralf, I can run Celestia without installation and without admin rights on my IBM-Notebook (WinXP Pro) by copying the Celestia folder from my desktop PC. I think it should work for you as well. Maybe some DLL-files won't be found by Celestia. If so, put a copy of them in the Celestia folder. For me t...

Re: Bump/Normal Map smaller than texture map

Ok,but how can I replace a base texture for a white one?I have Photshop CS and don??t have a clue.Is it to change to black and white? In solarsys.ssc, when I put a # in front of the line where the earth texture file is defined, the earth turns blank white in Celestia: # Texture "earth.*" ...

Re: Bug with [S]/[F1] keys in the current 1.4.1 CVS version

Hi.

I noticed that this bug, which also appeared in 1.4.1 final, is still present. I could reproduce it in a CVS build of Nov 4.
Will there be a fix in 1.5?

Bye
Andy.

Re: CVS compile fails for me since Oct 20

Well, I personnally make a clean release after a major update, to delete the .obj files that were built during the previous compilation.
Or, at least, when I get the kind of error you have reported...

Thank you for another helpful answer, Vincent. :)
Cheers

Re: Celestia DVD

Frank Gregorio sells CD-Sets with the Celestia-ED version and all his educational activities including many Add-ons.
Maybe he will update them after 1.5.0 has been released.

You might try to make a clean release : > makerelease clean ... and then : > makerelease Dear Vincent, thank you very much for this suggestion. CVS compile fails for me since Oct 20

Hi. Since a couple of weeks I've been compiling Celestia for myself and I quite enjoy it - i think it's the real Celestia feeling, being up to date with the development! According to wcomer's instructions in the respective sticky topic on top of this forum I'm using Tortoise CVS (without any problem...

Re: Guideline clarifications

Of course there always exist different opinions about what should be allowed or not. So many people of different age, background, nationality etc are using these forums. But if there exist certain rules - and as a matter of fact they do exist - they must be obeyed by everybody here, whether they lik...

Re: Free Windows-based compiling for Celestia.

Thank you for the hints, selden. Anyway, I found a website where the Visual C++ 2003 Toolkit is still available for download: http://xona.com/2004/06/29.html All the the other links I found led to the 2005 Express Edition rather than the 2003 Toolkit. After uninstalling the 2005 Express and installi...

Re: Free Windows-based compiling for Celestia.

Hi. Using Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition (see post before previous post), I'm still not able to compile the celestia code. Now a lib-file seems to be missing: libc.lib. This file is not part of my visual C++ installation. Can I get it elsewhere? The error message reads LINK: fatal error LNK1104: ca...

Re: Free Windows-based compiling for Celestia.

Hi. I tried to compile the recent Celestia CVS source code. As MS Visual C++ Toolkit 2003 is no longer available for download but was replaced by Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition, I downloaded the latter and installed it. I followed the instructions in this thread and encountered the following error ...

Re: Free Windows-based compiling for Celestia.

Hello, I had downloaded and installed TortoiseCVS as described above. Then I tried to checkout the Celestia code several times, what led always to the same failure: I couldn't get connected to the CVS-Server. The error message read "connect to cvs.sourceforge.net:2401 failed: Der Host war bei einem ...

Re: Educational add-on help.

Hi Frank!

For the update, will it be necessary to download all activity files again?
Or will you provide an update patch (archive with only the new/changed files)?
Just a question, not a demand :-)

Re: FINALLY - Celestia Educational Activities released for 2005

Dear Frank, first of all, thank you VERY VERY much for your Educational Activities, a great piece of work and art! Now I have just one (simple) question. If I'd like to use the Celestia 1.4 final version together with your activities, I think this should be possible in the same way as using FT1.2 ac...

Re: Problem with nVIDIA driver installation

Selden,

thank you very much for your reply.
At the toshiba site I found appropriate drivers for my notebook. They are from June 2005, thus newer than the drivers that were installed before. The installation worked without further problems. :D
Thanks again

Andy
