Christophe,

that's perfect! With gettext the script is running fine.
Thank you very much! :)

Re: I want my Celestia 1.5.0 English version back

Adirondack,

I tried to run the perl script "translate_resources.pl". I received about 50 error messages. The following commands couldn't be found:

Code: Select all

rc
link
msgfmt

Do I need to install some further packages? I'm using ActivePerl 5.8.8 Build 820 on my WinXP (Home) SP2 system.

Thanks
Andy

Re: Add-ons bugs

You need to use the converted version of Grant Hutchison. It should work for both 1.4.0 and 1.4.1. The original version of Pascal Hartmann was designed for 1.3.2.
Did you take a look at the motherlode?

Re: I want my Celestia 1.5.0 English version back

The CVS-version also switches to the system's language, as long as you also did run the translate-resources perl script after compiling the .exe. Adirondack Thank you very much for this information. I didn't know about the script. Obviously I have missed that, because I didn't watch the discussions...

Re: I want my Celestia 1.5.0 English version back

I didn't notice that German wasn't among the provided languages and thus the problem doesn't exist for me. I guess, you did understand me wrongly (or I expressed myself wrongly). A humble german localization is available in pre3 and should be switched on automatically (if you use a german Windows v...

For me everything is fine as I use Celestia from CVS ... 8) ...which also switches to the system's default language. :) Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't notice that German wasn't among the provided languages and thus the problem doesn't exist for me. Re: How to do in Celestia

My first comment is that I don't seem to be able to move. I press "A" to increase speed but nothing moves. I press "L" to increase time but only planets move. I just installed this version from http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia . Is this a bug or do I have to press something else? Teemu, you ...

In my opinion the user should be able to choose the language he prefers either during the installation or by setting a config parameter.

Re: Galaxy Affectionados: Automag ON or OFF?

Basically - yes. I keep my 3-page list of keyboard commands handy, and I use the mouse to select objects (as well as left and right click-drags). I don't recall ever changing the FOV, it's been left at the default. Perhaps I need to experiment a bit more. I would really advise to do so. It's...

Re: Lua Edu Tools beta version

Too bad this option isn't available for changing in LUA or CELX scripts. I guess this is something Chris has to change in order to makes it possible. I also guess this won't be on the top-10 list of actions Chris is working on. Ren?©, I've checked in a change that adds the setaltazimuthmode / getal...

jb55,

a few posts above I provided a link to a website where the Visual C++ 2003 Toolkit is still available for download. Have you tried it?

Bye Andy

Re: Lua Edu Tools : content and layout...

As suggested by Selden, I've tried to modify the colors of the Tool Box : http://vincent.gian.club.fr/celestia/lua_tools2.zip You can compare the two color sets by editing the beginning of the utils/toolBox.lua file. Just comment in the color set you want to use, and comment out the other. (remove/...

Re: Windows XP descontinued in 2008.So what?

that is so not true... official support for windows xp will end 2014 while vistas support will already end in 2012. also this doesn't apply to security-updates. phoenix, this may be true for XP Professional ... but many users have installed XP Home on their PCs at home. I don't think XP Home will b...

Re: Question about precession...

Chris rewrote the relevant code for Celestia v1.5 and it should work better. I noticed that the precession specification in the cvs copy of solarsys.ssc is commented out, but I'm not sure why; perhaps the parameters aren't as accurate as they might be. Maybe this could be clarified by one of the de...

Thanks for finishing the guide, Fridger. I have successfully completed step 3.5 and am currently DLing the 1.2 GB gz-packed input heightmap. I hope that converting this file goes just as smooth as the small one, and I can't wait to see the results. Me, too ... step 3.5 (the exercise) was easy to do...

Re: How to see planet formation ?

Trance, as Frank mentioned above, you have to copy some files to your "extras" folder: After unzipping, look in the Activity folder for a folder titled, "educational-extras". Copy the contents of that folder and paste them directly into your "extras" folder in Celestia. Then, open Celestia the usual...

Re: How to see planet formation ?

To see this, you've got to install add-ons. Take a look at Frank Gregorio's Educational Activities, which can be found at the Celestia Motherlode:
